Workshop Description

Coral reefs have long captured the interests of scientists and divers alike. They are incredibly important ecosystems, they cover 1% of the ocean but support 25% of all marine life… they are also one of the ecosystems most at risk today. Learn more about the amazing coral reefs and the threats facing them.

In this workshop conducted by Georgina Hayes, our in-house Marine Biologist, you will get an overview of coral reefs and find out what coral actually is – it’s not just a colourful rock! You will learn about the different types of coral reef, the structure of coral, the main different types of coral, what coral bleaching is and causes of coral bleaching.

This workshop is intended for any divers or individuals who are interesting in learning more about coral reefs. If you are planning a dive vacation to an area where coral reefs exist, such as Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Penida in Bali, this workshop teaches you how to spot different types of coral and reduce your impact on the reef whilst diving,

This workshop is part of our originally created series at Ceningan Divers. You can complete each module individually or as a part of our Marine Conservation Diver Certification Program.
